In recent years, photovoltaics have received significant attention as a green and efficient method for generating electricity from solar energy. Since the absorbing materials are semiconductors and typically have band gaps in the 1-2 eV range, the temperature of these materials can be measured with our kSA BandiT band-edge temperature monitoring systems. Typical photovoltaic materials can be measured from room temperature thru 650°C, with a resolution of better than 1°C.
